The Rail Now Campaign is a transport lobby group which believes that to properly serve society the transport sector must be ecologically sustainable and economically sustainable.
Land-based transport in Australia is not ecologically or economically sustainable at present because:
Private cars dominate the market for passenger travel;
Trucks dominate the market for freight;
The supply of alternative means of transport - namely trains, trams, buses, taxis, cycleways and walkways - is inadequate; and
Decisions on land use are made without proper regard to their transport implications.
The Rail Now Campaign focusses on Western Sydney, where the disproportionate reliance on road transport is most apparent.
The Rail Now Campaign develops alternative transport policies and campaigns to have its policies adopted. More Information
