The NSW Govt has withdrawn its controversial legislation that could have seen the sale of rail corridors around the state. "Its a huge win for the community and everyone who has campaigned so vigorously around the state over the past two months, " said Ms Karin Kolbe, President of TOOT "TOOT thanks everyone including Lee Rhiannon and the Greens, the Rail Tram Bus Union, the NSW Teachers Federation, The Nationals, the Liberals, The NSW Farmers Association, The Country Women's Association, the Australian Conservation Foundation, and rail groups across the state, including Newcastle Transport for Business Development, Save Our Rail (Newcastle), EcoTransit, Friends of Northern Railway and many others." "Now we need to get the trains running," sad Karin Kolbe "TOOT reminds our Federal Labor representatives, particularly Justine Elliott, of the need to honour election promises to provide rail services. In her First Speech to Parliament Justine Elliot spoke of 'Federal Labor's long term commitment' to the Casino-Murwillumbah line, yet she has been silent in the face of the proposed NSW legislation and she remains silent about rail services."
